Learn to chant it, learn the meaning
Chapters 1, 2, and 3 of the Katha Upanishad
This astonishing text from the Black Yajur Veda is a beautiful dialogue between a precocious young man called Naciketas and Yama, the god of death. It contains profound teachings about yoga as well as lessons about life itself. In these three workshops, Valerie will teach you how to chant chapters 1, 2, and 3, and explain some of the most well-known and important verses illustrating the ideas found within, skilfully bringing them to life and welcoming questions and discussion. Each workshop will consist of a 15 minutes practice to prepare us for chanting, two chanting sessions (50 minutes each), two presentations on the meaning of the text, and Q & A, with breaks in between.
You can attend in person or online, and will receive the audio recording of the chanted text to practice on your own.
